Our Batterers’ Intervention Program (BIP) is called Non-Violence Intervention Program (NVIP). The program is designed to share and promote healthy alternatives to violence. Our program uses the scientifically proven Duluth Model Nonviolence Program to help participants confront their maladaptive beliefs about using power and control over a significant other. The program teaches participants alternatives to coercive, manipulative, and violent behaviors, and challenges all participants to take complete responsibility for their actions.
The NVIP views abuse and abusive relationships with a power and control model. We aim to teach participants new patterns of thought and behaviors using a nonviolent equity model for interpersonal relationships. Our program keeps victims of violence safe while addressing the beliefs of the batterer.
