Evaluations

We understand that needing an evaluation can feel stressful.

That’s why we make the process transparent, respectful, and informative from start to finish.

At Grace Abounds Counseling, we offer comprehensive assessments designed to provide clarity, direction, and appropriate recommendations.

Such evaluations are commonly required for personal concerns, treatment planning, or legal matters.

Substance Abuse Evaluation

A substance abuse evaluation is a structured clinical assessment used to determine the extent of substance use, its impact on daily functioning, and appropriate next steps for care.

These evaluations are often (but not always) court mandated. Regardless of the reason, they are conducted in a confidential, clinically sound, and judgment-free environment.

During the evaluation, we assess:

  • Patterns and triggers for substance use
  • Impact on work, school, and relationships
  • Co-occurring mental health concerns
  • Treatment history
  • Readiness for change
  • Recommended level of care

A urine screening through our partnering laboratory is required as part of the evaluation.

A comprehensive written report outlining findings and recommendations is provided following the evaluation.

Mental Health Evaluation

A mental health evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of emotional, behavioral, and psychological functioning.

These evaluations may be requested for personal insight, treatment planning, school accommodations, or legal matters.

We assess:

  • Presenting symptoms and concerns
  • Emotional and behavioral functioning
  • Personal, family, and medical history
  • Current stressors and supports
  • Risk and safety factors

Following the assessment, a detailed written report is provided with clinical findings and recommendations.

How is this different from a psychological or psychiatric evaluation?

Substance abuse and mental health evaluations conducted at Grace Abounds Counseling are clinical assessments performed by licensed mental health professionals. These evaluations focus on assessing current functioning, identifying concerns, and providing appropriate recommendations for treatment or legal requirements. If your situation requires a psychological or psychiatric evaluation, we are happy to discuss appropriate referral options.
